THE ROAD TO MY FARM by Nora Janssen Seton (Penguin: $10.95; 225 pp.). After studying art history at Harvard, the author shifted to Texas A & M to pursue a subject dearer to her heart: agriculture. Once she got past the astonished looks of her friends, Seton began to consider what she would want to raise on a family farm. Cattle and sheep offer higher profits but need intensive care; some plant crops require less work but involve greater risks from the weather, insects, etc. Her considerations lead to an informative series of reflections on the state of the American farm.
