Happy in Huatulco

Regarding “The Next Cancun?” by Christopher Reynolds (Aug. 28):

In November, 1991, we flew to Huatulco, checked into the beautiful Sheraton resort and informed the concierge that we wanted to be married at their hotel. “Sorry senor, too much paperwork, not enough time,” was the response, but we persisted.

With the enthusiastic help of the ladies at the Sheraton, the local judge (who spoke no English) and a sweet San Diego couple we met at the swim-up bar, we were treated to a beautiful wedding on the beach in front of the Sheraton!

We found the service great, the food what we hoped for, an enjoyable (and empty) golf course--all in all a fabulous place for a marriage. We found none of the problems with our room that Mr. Reynolds mentioned; rather, every night the maids left flower petals across the bed, spelling felicidades . I have stayed at many Sheratons, but the service, people, and care we received in Huatulco was easily the best they could offer.
