Oglesby Promoted to CEO of Area Newspaper Group

Roger Oglesby has been promoted to the new position of president and chief executive of California Community News Corp., a subsidiary of Los Angeles-based Times Mirror Co.

California Community News publishes the Daily Pilot, Huntington Beach Independent, Orange Independent and Saddleback Valley Voice in Orange County. In Los Angeles County, CCN publishes the Glendale News Press, the Burbank Leader and the Foothill Leader.

Times Mirror, which also owns the Los Angeles Times, acquired the CCN papers in May, 1993.

Oglesby, 46, will oversee CCN’s business and editorial operations. He is a former Times Mirror assistant general counsel and has been assistant to the publisher of the Los Angeles Times since 1993.

Oglesby assumes his new position immediately and also continues to serve as assistant to Times publisher Richard T. Schlosberg.

“Roger Oglesby is a talented newspaper executive with considerable experience in both the editorial and the business arenas,” Schlosberg said in a statement. “Under his leadership, I am confident that CCN will further strengthen Times Mirror’s ability to provide highly localized community news and advertising to these important competitive markets.”

Oglesby has held a variety of editorial positions, including assistant city editor at The Times, city editor for the San Jose Mercury News, metro editor at the Omaha World Herald and legal affairs and projects editor at the Dallas Times Herald.
