L.A. Gear Selects Ad Agency: The Santa Monica-based company chose Chiat/Day of Venice to handle all advertising for its lines of athletic and casual shoes. L.A. Gear has previously produced all its advertising in house, a company spokeswoman said. L.A. Gear would not reveal how much it spends on advertising, but the trade magazine AdWeek estimated the company’s annual ad budget at $20 million to $30 million.
