ORANGE : Employees Tied Up; $1,500 and Car Stolen

Police said Friday they are searching for five armed men who tied up employees at a glass statue business and fled with about $1,500 and a Mercedes-Benz automobile.

No injuries were reported.

The robbery occurred Thursday evening at The Glass Dragon, a manufacturer of glass statues at 2199 N. Batavia St., Police Sgt. Bob Green said.

The robbers entered the business brandishing handguns, tied up the owner and two employees with duct tape, then escaped with the cash in a white Toyota pickup and the car, Green said.

The victims freed themselves and called police, Green said.

The license plate number of the stolen Mercedes is 2XRM318. Anyone with information on the robbery or the whereabouts of the car is asked to call the Police Department at (714) 744-7444.
