* What Happened Saturday: Democrat Kathleen Brown addressed the Children Now conference in Downtown Los Angeles and planned to speak to supporters at her El Monte headquarters. Gov. Pete Wilson planned to attend one of a series of fund-raising house parties being held throughout California.

* What’s Ahead: Brown had no publicly announced events scheduled for today. Wilson was scheduled to address fund-raisers this evening in Upland and Hemet.

THE SENATE RACE

* What Happened Saturday: With Congress adjourned, Rep. Mike Huffington and Sen. Dianne Feinstein returned to California.
