Two men whose bound and gagged bodies were found near Lake View Terrace on Saturday were strangled, and detectives believe the killings were drug-related, a sheriff’s spokesman said Wednesday.

The clothed bodies, wrapped in plastic trash bags, were discovered by a hiker in a gully near North Lopez Canyon Road about 9:45 a.m. Saturday, said sheriff’s spokesman Brian Jones.

One of the victims, a 25-year-old man, was identified but his name was withheld pending notification of his relatives, Jones said. The identity of the second man, who is thought to be in his 20s, is unknown.

Detectives believe the men, who were bound and gagged with brown packaging tape, probably were killed before their bodies were dumped in the gully, Jones said.
