Announcing the 6-Figure Meal Deal

Share

The Wilshire, certainly one of the most deluxe condominium towers in town, is offering as a perk to those who buy a unit a catered, private dinner party for six.

Now, we don’t know if a meal in one of the Wilshire Corridor building’s party rooms would entice you to spend between $600,000 and $5.6 million on a condo, but just in case, here are the details.

The building’s head of security, Derek Chadwick, reportedly a trained, cordon bleu chef, plans the menu while the Splendid Feast, a catering company in Tarzana, does the cooking. Up until now, the bonus dinners were held at the Peninsula Hotel, but this must be so much cozier.

While we would never profess to have our finger on the pulse of L.A. real estate, it appears that you may have some time to ponder the offer--40% of the building’s 97 custom-designed units are still available.

Refined Sense of Smell: Speaking of deluxe, the Regent Beverly Wilshire just completed the $5-million renovation of its ballroom--a room, we might add, in which we’ve spent many an evening.

Besides installing state-of-the-art acoustics and lighting, ball-goers will notice a massive new Venetian glass central chandelier surrounded by satellites of smaller chandeliers, a deep blue velvet valance on the stage, new Aubusson-patterned carpeting and jewel-colored upholstery.

Now, if you had spent all that money redecorating, would you invite 2,000 cigar lovers to stink up the place? On Tuesday, at one of the first events in the new ballroom, Cigar Aficionado magazine sponsored its “Big Smoke” gala with cigar samples, cigar-rolling demonstrations and displays of cigar-related paraphernalia. (Proceeds of the event, you might want to know, went to the AIDS Action Foundation.)

A Super Salad: It’s our Saturday ritual. Manicure at Jessica’s, Chinese chicken salad at Chin Chin on Sunset.

We were happy to learn that we are in good company, speaking strictly of the salad. Supermodels Iman, Claudia Schiffer, Beverly Johnson and Christy Turlington all order the same thing.

The other good news for all of us: The salad contains only 400 calories.
