SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

The scoreboard was on the blink Saturday when Glendale College visited West Los Angeles for a Western State Conference interdivisional game.

But opponents don’t have much use for a scoreboard anyway when facing the Glendale defense.

The Vaqueros held the West L.A. offense without a touchdown, limiting the Oilers to 182 yards while posting a 19-10 victory.

The Glendale defense has allowed one touchdown and three field goals in three games. The Vaqueros (3-2, 2-2 in conference play) went more than six quarters without giving up a point before the Oilers’ Omar Moreno kicked a 38-yard field goal late in the third period.

West L.A.’s only other points came on the ensuing kickoff when Cedrick Ledet scooped up Dylan Washausen’s fumble and raced 30 yards for a touchdown.

Glendale’s Hector Valencia led all rushers with 109 yards in 21 carries, and Ilan Zilberman added 93 yards in 21 carries, scoring on a 20-yard run on the Vaqueros’ first series.

Vaquero quarterback Jose Delgado, who sat out the last game with a bruised shoulder, returned to complete nine of 18 passes for 124 yards, with one interception.

Glendale’s Tim Hilton had three receptions for 68 yards.
