Judge Sentences Embezzler to 33 Months

The ex-director of finance of an Agoura Hills oil company Monday was sentenced to 33 months in prison for embezzling nearly $2.4 million from the firm.

U.S. District Judge A. Wallace Tashima in Los Angeles ordered Marvin Jay Caukin, 46, of Palos Verdes to repay the entire amount and fined him $25,000.

The USA Petroleum Corp. executive pleaded guilty in June to four counts of wire fraud, Assistant U.S. Atty. Dorothy Shubin said.

He admitted funneling the money from his employer and several of its entities to secret bank accounts during a 22-month period that began in July, 1992, Shubin said.
