CYPRESS : Track to Install Nets Next to Golf Course
Los Alamitos Race Track has received permission from the City Council to install safety nets to stop errant golf balls from the Cypress Golf Course.
By unanimous vote, the council last week authorized the race track to set up 30-foot-tall safety nets. The two dark-green nets will be at least 500 feet from Cerritos Avenue and not visible from nearby streets, according to the city’s planning staff.
In a memo to the council, Planning Director Chris Eynon said the installation would be a joint effort between the race track and the golf course.
“Because the netting will not be visible from the adjacent streets and because it provides protection to the Los Alamitos Race Track use and its occupants, staff feels this request is justified and will not cause any negative impacts to the surrounding property owners,” Eynon said.
