Cavaliers Lose Wilkins for Year

CLEVELAND —
Already scrambling to fill vacancies created by Larry Nance’s retirement and Brad Daugherty’s bad back, the Cleveland Cavaliers learned Wednesday that starting guard Gerald Wilkins will sit out the season because of a ruptured Achilles’ tendon.
He will have surgery Friday.
He tore the tendon Tuesday night during the second quarter of an exhibition game against the Boston Celtics at Providence, R.I.
