Luckman Theater to Continue First Season With ‘Salome’

Continuing the inaugural season in the theater of the new Harriet and Charles Luckman Fine Arts Complex at Cal State Los Angeles on Oct. 22 is the joint presentation, by Theatre of Yugen of San Francisco and the Tiny Alice Theatre Company of Tokyo, of “The Climax of Salome.”
Subsequent attractions due at the 1,200-seat main theater include: “Black Choreographers Moving Toward the 21st Century” (Nov. 10-13); Los Angeles Chamber Ballet in its new “The Nutcracker Ballet” (Dec. 1-4), and jazzmen Gerald Wilson and Ernie Andrews (Jan. 14).
Also: the Jazz Tap Ensemble (Jan. 20-21); Corky Siegel’s Chamber Blues (Jan. 28); An Evening of Solo Performances by David Cale, Blondell Cummings, Jude Narita and Ruben Sierra (Feb. 3-4); Los Angeles Music Center Opera in “Journey to Cordoba” (Feb. 11); the Anderson Quartet (Feb. 18); Los Angeles Dance Theatre in “The Indomitable Spirit of Woman” (Feb. 24-25); the Martha Graham Dance Company (March 2 and 3); Hae Kyung Lee and Dancers (March 10-11); Su Wen Ching Chinese Ensemble (March 18); Donald Byrd/The Group (March 24); Damian Woetzel and Friends dancing an evening of works choreographed by George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins (April 14-15); the Lewitzky Dance Company (Aril 21-22); the Southwest Chamber Music Society & the Nahualli Ensemble (May 13); and the Aman International Music and Dance Company (June 2-3).
