Campaign fund raising has been sluggish for most of the 12 candidates running for three seats on the City Council, according to financial statements filed recently.
Incumbent Mayor Marcia Rudolph reported raising the most money so far, showing $5,444 in contributions from several sources.
Joe Hernandez received $5,796, but $3,750 came from his own pocket in the form of a personal loan. He showed no outside cash contribution larger than $250, other than the donation of $1,259 for printing from Peter Byrne Marketing and Advertising in Lake Forest.
The only other candidate registering significant cash donations was Peter Herzog. He received $5,482, including a $2,800 loan from personal finances. His largest political gift was $1,000 from Marjorie Herzog of Palos Verdes.
None of the other nine candidates reported more than $600 in contributions.
Kathryn McCullough declared $1,881 in contributions, including a $1,500 loan from herself. Robert Forsberg declared $1,425, including a $1,000 self-loan.
Incumbent Councilman Richard Dixon’s campaign received $549. Mark Maletesta listed $150 in contributions, and DeWayne Stark received $100.
Venturis Shaw and Thomas Whaling filed short forms indicating they will not be receiving or spending more than $1,000 during the campaign.
Also, a political action committee formed to support Whaling, Rudolph and McCullough reported getting $400 in donations.
David Ferber Jr. and Tom Bokosky will be fined for missing the deadline to file their disclosure statements, which were due Oct. 5. Both indicated their spending and contribution receipts would be less than than $1,000.
