Four-Star Films : ‘Diabolique’
Henri-Georges Clouzot’s famous 1955 French shocker mixes perverse psychology, a middle-class triangle and a murder scheme in a Balzacian milieu with supernatural overtones. Loaded with wicked insights and nasty thrills, it’s been copied repeatedly ever since its release--and is about to be remade by Hollywood. With Vera Clouzot and Simone Signoret (pictured from left) and Paul Meurisse (Bravo Saturday at 8 p.m., next Sunday at midnight).
