COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Donahue Holds Meeting on Lethargy

Share

UCLA held a 40-minute meeting after practice, with Coach Terry Donahue saying the intent was to keep his players concentrating on the mission at hand: beating Stanford on Saturday.

“Tuesday and Wednesday practices were good, but I wasn’t happy about today,” he said. “If you’re winning, there’s no problem with concentration, but we have to make sure that we’re not dragging a lot of baggage from losing.”

The Bruins have lost six in a row in a 2-6 season.

They will get a boost of sorts on Saturday with J.J. Stokes starting at split end for only the third time this season. Stokes, who has been dealing with a knee injury, was pronounced 100% by Donahue.

Right tackle Chad Overhauser is doubtful because of an ankle injury, which would give Sean Gully his first college start. Gully has practiced at every position but center in the offensive line. . . . Out are wide receiver Bryan Adams (shoulder) and fullback Greg Ford (back), who underwent an MRI examination on Tuesday that showed bulges in disk area.
