Ventura police officers have arrested two men and are searching for two others in connection with an assault on a 25-year-old Ventura resident, authorities said.

The victim, Guadalupe Rodriguez, suffered a cut to his right eye that required stitches, Ventura Police Officer Ray Romero said.

Police said the trouble began at a party Sunday night on Mission Street when one of the suspects, Braulio Garcia, tried to run over his cousin, Rodriguez, with a car.

Rodriguez ran after Garcia and caught up with him at Park Row Avenue and Olive Street, police said. Rodriguez was then knocked down and kicked in the face.

Police said three other men are suspected of involvement in the assault: 19-year-old Jose Cruz and 34-year-old Augustine Munoz, who are both in Ventura County Jail, and Guadalupe Munoz.

Police are still trying to locate Garcia and Guadalupe Munoz, Romero said.

Cruz and Augustine Munoz are scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in Ventura County Municipal Court.
