COLLEGE FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Looking Ahead, Bruins Try Recruiting

Share

After a victory over Stanford that ended a six-game losing streak, UCLA has a week off, with practices scheduled today, Wednesday and Thursday and recruiting all week.

UCLA assistants scattered Monday to take a look at high school prospects and were to meet today. Some might leave again after that because Coach Terry Donahue is trying to simultaneously conduct a week of practice and recruiting.

The Bruins begin preparation in earnest on Monday for the Arizona State game Nov. 12 at Phoenix.

Left guard James Christensen suffered a sprained ligament in his left knee in Saturday’s game against Stanford. He has been hobbled by a partially torn ligament in the same knee that forced him to miss three games and play only part of another.

They are different ligaments.

He missed the final nine regular season games and the Rose Bowl last season because of ligament problems in the same knee and was granted a medical hardship redshirt season.

After having interception problems during the losing streak, quarterback Wayne Cook has gone three consecutive games without throwing one. During that time, Cook has completed 52 of 90 passes for 811 yards and five touchdowns.
