IRVINE : Executive-Search Firm Seeks Public’s Input in Selecting School Superintendent

Share

What are residents looking for in the next leader of the Irvine Unified School District? That’s the question an executive search firm will be asking Irvine residents in a series of half-hour interviews that begin today and end at noon Friday.

The 17,500-student school district is inviting all community members to take part. In addition to the half-hour group interviews, a public forum is scheduled at 7 p.m. Thursday, at Woodbridge High School.

The interviews will be conducted by Management Analysis and Planning Associates, a Berkeley-based firm hired to develop a profile of the qualities community members want in a new superintendent. The firm also will survey community attitudes about the district.

David E. Brown, hired in 1987 to succeed A. Stanley Corey, spent a final morning at his district office Monday. He resigned to become superintendent of the Napa Valley Unified School District. Deputy Supt. Dean Waldfogel, one of three deputy superintendents in the district, is serving as interim superintendent. Waldfogel has said he is not a candidate.

Interview appointments may be scheduled by calling Donna Wilkerson at (714) 651-0444, Ext. 201. Comments may be submitted in writing to Harry Weinberg at fax number (714) 559-9051.
