COLLEGE FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : UCLA : Young Players Getting Their Chances
Eight true freshmen have been getting playing time at UCLA this season and one, cornerback Javelin Guidry, is starting.
The other seven are defensive lineman Vae Tata, nose guard Danjuan Magee, wide receiver Jim McElroy, safety Shaun Williams, safety Glenn Thompkins, fullback Greg Ford and cornerback Aaron Rocques.
There are only 14 scholarship seniors, including punter Darren Schager and long snapper Chris Andersen, who were walk-ons who earned scholarships.

In nine games, the Bruins have started 20 players on offense, including nine linemen, and 17 on defense. . . . J.J. Stokes has 141 receptions in his career, one shy of Sean LaChapelle’s school record.
