Bill Parcells, coach of the New England Patriots, was released from a hospital when tests showed he was in good health after experiencing lightheadedness.

Parcells, who has a history of heart problems, spent Thursday night at Massachusetts General Hospital. Parcells underwent “a series of vigorous exercise tests” and the results “looked excellent,” Patriot cardiologist Adolph Hutter said.

Team owner Bob Kraft said Parcells will coach Sunday when the Patriots play at Cleveland.

Cincinnati Bengal linebacker James Francis said he will fly to New York on Tuesday to appeal the NFL’s decision to fine him $12,500 for his hit Sunday on Dallas Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikman. Francis said he had no intention of hurting Aikman with the forearm to the head. He said Dallas offensive lineman Mark Tuinei pushed him into Aikman and that he avoided the block with his arm high. “That’s a chunk of money,” Francis said of the fine. “Some people don’t make that in a year and I’ve got to pay it for something I didn’t do. If I wanted to take a swing at him, I could have. I’m not a dirty player.” . . . . The Pittsburgh Steelers deactivated running back Barry Foster for Sunday’s game at Houston.
