Pit Bull Killed Baby Abandoned in Pomona Back Yard, Authorities Say

Share

A newborn baby boy whose mutilated body was found in the back yard of a Pomona home was apparently mauled to death by a pit bull dog kept in the yard, police said Saturday.

Pomona police had speculated earlier that the infant was killed elsewhere before being dumped Friday near a rusting car in the littered yard of a working-class neighborhood home.

Residents of Orange Grove Avenue discovered the body Friday afternoon. Police said the body showed evidence of head injuries as well as severed testicles and a missing arm.

But an autopsy Saturday indicated that the infant died “as a result of trauma caused by multiple dog bites,” Police Sgt. Jeff Anderson said.

Authorities say the infant is possibly Latino. They have requested help from the public in identifying him.
