SIMI VALLEY : Library Seeks Grant for Job-Search Tools
To enhance the Simi Valley Library’s collection on career development, a Ventura County official is urging the Board of Supervisors to accept a federal grant to purchase $8,695 in materials for the facility.
The grant would enable the Simi Valley Library to purchase career tests, vocational and job-search aids and business directories in both print and CD-ROM formats, said Dixie D. Adeniran, library services director.
The new materials would replace outdated editions and add new titles to the library’s collection.
Because the grant would not cover staff salaries or equipment, the county would have to contribute about $1,575 to absorb those and other indirect costs, Adeniran said.
Simi Valley, with a population of over 100,000, qualifies for the Major Urban Resource Library grant that is administered by the California State Library. No matching funds from the county are required.
At least four of the five county supervisors must vote to receive the funds. The board meets Tuesday.
