Los Alamitos

City Council meeting

When: Monday at 7 p.m.

Where: Council chambers, 3191 Katella Ave.

What: The council will consider a request from the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce to co-sponsor a community event in June that will help showcase city businesses as well as raise money for a scholarship fund. The event will feature a health fair, food booths, merchant booths and assorted concession stands. There also will be game booths and attractions for children. The chamber wants the city to waive the fee for use of Laurel Park and to donate two $500 scholarships for winners of a beauty pageant that will coincide with the event.

San Juan Capistrano

City Council meeting

When: Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Where: Council chambers, 32400 Paseo Adelanto.

What: A public hearing will address how to use redevelopment funds earmarked for affordable housing. The council will also consider applications submitted for Community Development Block Grants for the 1995-96 fiscal year. The council will also discuss the historic Love House, at 31875 El Camino Real.

Laguna Niguel

City Council meeting

When: Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Where: Council chambers, 27801 La Paz Road

What: The council will hear public comments concerning the proposed privatization of the El Niguel Heights neighborhood. Residents of El Niguel Heights want to take over control and maintenance of two dozen city streets and put up gates at the neighborhood’s entrances. Under the proposal before the council, the public would have access to city-owned Seminole Park, which is within El Niguel Heights, during daylight hours through a push button at the gates.

Fountain Valley

City Council meeting

When: Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Where: Council Chambers, 10200 Slater Ave.

What: The council will consider awarding a contract for intersection improvements at Warner Avenue and Magnolia Street. City staff is recommending a $250,000 contract be awarded to Excel Paving Co. to make the improvements. The council will also consider approving the final agreement for the repair and resurfacing of 15 tennis courts, three handball courts and three basketball courts at various parks throughout the city. The cost for the work is $52,000. In other action, the council is scheduled to receive the final report on sidewalk repairs made in the city.
