Memorial Service Planned at Tustin School for Veteran Teacher Who Died of Cancer
A memorial ceremony will be held Dec. 8 at Benjamin F. Beswick Elementary School for longtime teacher Jeannie Dukette, who died in August after a battle with cancer. She was 54.
The ceremony will begin at 8:15 a.m. and will include the planting of a tree in her honor, with a permanent plaque nearby. Books also will be donated to the school library in her honor.
Dukette was an elementary school teacher in the Tustin Unified School District for 25 years. She taught third and fourth grades at Robert P. Heideman Elementary School for two years, sixth grade at Sycamore Elementary School for a year and first grade at Jeane Thorman Elementary School for 20 years. She had taught first grade at Benjamin F. Beswick Elementary School for the past two years, retiring in June.
