Tele-Communications Inc. May Announce a Spinoff: At a board meeting today, directors of the major cable television concern may announce a spinoff of one of four operating units, sources said. The most likely candidate would be TCI’s new Technology Ventures unit, according to the trade publication Multichannel News. A spinoff has been contemplated since Denver-based TCI reorganized its holdings in August, after it repurchased Liberty Media Corp. The four units are domestic cable systems, domestic programming, international operations and technology-oriented venture capital.
