Share

The Burbank Civic Pride Committee is seeking entrants for its 12th annual Holiday Outdoor Decorating Contest.

Categories this year include Christmas lights, animated scenes, most creative, children’s theme, window displays and commercial/business decorations. Residents may enter as an entire neighborhood, block or street.

Entry forms were mailed out with the city’s utility bills earlier this month. Forms are available in the City Hall lobby and at all city libraries and recreation centers, or entries may be submitted on a plain sheet of paper including name, address, phone number and category of competition.

Forms should be mailed to: Civic Pride, Public Information Office, Burbank Central Library, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd., Burbank 91502.

The displays will be judged by the 10-member Burbank Civic Pride Committee, which is appointed annually by the City Council. The committee’s goal is to promote pride and generate interest in the city by organizing activities and recognizing those who work to beautify their communities.

Cinda Cates, the city’s public information specialist, said the annual contest typically draws about 60 entries. Winners in each category receive honorary plaques at the Dec. 20 City Council meeting, which is broadcast on government access cable TV Channel 21 at 7 p.m.

Cates said the children’s theme category became part of the contest last year. It is open to displays designed and created by children 15 years old and younger.

The animation category was added about three years ago.
