Company Town : 2 at Warner Bros. Will Become Vice Chairmen

The executive chairs at Warner Bros. Records will begin shuffling Monday when Russ Thyrett and David Altschule are to be named to vice chairman posts at the Burbank label, reporting to Danny Goldberg, who takes over as chairman Jan. 1.

Goldberg flew in from New York this week to meet with Thyrett, Altschule and other Warner Bros. veterans--some of whom have been approached recently by rival record corporations. Thyrett is currently senior vice president of marketing and promotion and has worked at Warner for more than 20 years. Altschule is senior vice president of business affairs and general counsel and has worked at the label for more than a decade.

Golberg has asked Warner Bros. Records product manager Steven Baker and Virgin Records chief Phil Quartararo to take over as presidents of Reprise and Warner Bros. Records, respectively, but neither has decided whether to take the jobs, sources say.

In related news, Seymour Stein’s move from Sire Records to Elektra Entertainment is expected to be announced soon. Sire A&R; whiz Joe McEwen has also been offered a job at Elektra but has yet to accept. Sire managing director Howie Klein is expected to stay in Burbank as an executive with Warner Bros., where Madonna, Depeche Mode and other major Sire recording artists will remain.

* Viacom Productions has named Michelle Lang its new casting coordinator.

* Thomas A. Heymann has been promoted to the new position of president of the Disney Store-North America for Walt Disney Co. He will oversee day-to-day operations of 288 stores.

* Alan Duke is the new senior vice president of business and legal affairs for Disney.
