OXNARD : Deadline Nears for School Transfers

Share

Parents in the Oxnard Union High School District who want to take advantage of a new state law on school choice have until Wednesday to apply to transfer students to a different school within the district.

Under the law, which took effect early this year, school officials must allow students to transfer to any school in the district.

But the school must have room for additional students and the transfers must not cause major shifts in the school’s racial balance.

Because of crowding in the Oxnard district, some of the five high schools have only limited space for transfers.

Interested parents should call the district office at 385-2500, or visit one of the school offices to get a brochure explaining the transfer process.
