NHL’s Season Shrinks Yet Again

Share

The NHL’s fast-shrinking schedule was reduced for the third time during the owners’ lockout as the league canceled 10 more games per team Thursday.

The widely expected move means the number of games canceled for each team has reached 24. The breakdown of lost games is 11 home, 11 road and two at neutral sites.

As in previous cancellations, the league made no announcement as to which games will be canceled, saying the revised schedule will be released if and when the season begins.

Meanwhile, the NHL and the players’ union met for seven hours in Boston and plan to negotiate again today. It is the first time since Oct. 4-5 that the parties have negotiated on consecutive days. Neither side would comment on Thursday’s discussions.
