HOLLYWOOD BEACH : Man Surrenders in Barricade Drama
A Hollywood Beach man armed with a shotgun held police at bay for more than six hours until negotiators talked him into surrendering, sheriff’s officials said Sunday.
Michael Eugene Graves, 43, barricaded himself inside a beachfront home about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, threatening to shoot himself because he was distraught over personal problems, officials said.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics team responded to the Los Robles Street residence, where Graves gave himself up about 4:30 Sunday morning, officials said.
He was taken to a mental health facility for observation.
