Jackie Autry, the wife of California Angels owner Gene Autry, will be the guest of honor at a private Christmas tree-lighting ceremony for Hospice of the Canyon.

Autry, who is the president of the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum, will turn on the electricity to light up a 2,500-bulb tree during the ceremony Dec. 1 at the hospice in Calabasas, said Donald Bernstein, executive director.

Lights on another tree at the Autry museum in Griffith Park will be turned on at the same time, Bernstein said.

Donors can get lights in their names on either tree by giving $25 for green lights, $50 for blue lights and $100 for white lights, Bernstein said. Donors who give $1,000 will get the star at the top of either tree.

The ceremony is part of the hospice’s fourth annual “Light Up a Life” memorial and fund-raising program, said Bernstein.

Hospice of the Canyon runs a program that cares for the terminally ill. Founded in 1991, it serves the areas of Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Malibu and the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, Simi and Conejo valleys.
