PRO FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Henley May Miss Rest of Season

Share

Cornerback Darryl Henley was released from a San Francisco hospital Monday, but the prognosis on his torn hip flexor muscle from Sunday’s 49ers’ game remained the same: He will be sidelined four weeks.

Coach Chuck Knox said doctors believed Henley might have re-aggravated a hip injury he suffered a few years ago. Knox tried to remain optimistic that the cornerback would return before the end of the season.

“It’s a week-to-week thing, but the doctors are still talking four weeks,” he said.

With only five games to play, the Rams might lose Henley for the rest of the season. He faces a January trial for federal drug trafficking charges.

Henley hurt his hip covering on John Taylor’s 14-yard reception late in the second quarter, cutting short what Knox called “a fantastic year.” Henley started the last nine games, intercepting two passes and registering 46 tackles, sixth on the team.

Robert Bailey or Steve Israel is expected to replace him.

Running back Johnny Bailey and Leo Goeas, who both missed Sunday’s game with abdominal strains, are expected to return this week, Knox said.
