COVINA: A second rally to protest the...

COVINA: A second rally to protest the scheduled release of a convicted rapist into the city will be held at Civic Center Park at 11 a.m. Saturday. More than 3,000 residents and city and state officials turned out for the first rally Monday night to protest the release of Reginald Donald Muldrew, 46, dubbed the “Pillowcase Rapist.” Police Chief John Lentz said state officials informed him last week that Muldrew would be paroled into the city on Dec. 4.

DIAMOND BAR: A 42-year-old Anaheim man was shot and killed Friday by two men who robbed the minimarket where he was working. Mahfooz Ghabour was shot in the upper torso about 12:40 p.m. by two men who demanded money at the Diamond Bar Minimart at an Arco gas station in the 3300 block of Diamond Bar Boulevard. Authorities believe the men and two others may have robbed a West Covina 7-Eleven store 10 minutes later. No one was hurt during that robbery. The suspects are still at large and Arco is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men.

GLENDORA: Bank of America and Armored Transport of California Inc. are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrests and convictions of two men who killed an armored car guard during a holdup at a Bank of America branch on Monday. The robbers entered the bank in the 800 block of East Arrow Highway just before 10 a.m., and fired several shots at Armored Transport of California guard Ronald Cardenas, 28. Cardenas was pronounced dead on arrival at San Dimas Community Hospital, police said. Police said both robbers are in their 20s, are about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh between 160 and 170 pounds. One was wearing a white T-shirt with a logo or emblem on it and a black baseball cap; the other was wearing a black or dark blue Members Only-type jacket and a black baseball cap.
