Cincinnati Bengal running back Steve Broussard will start for the first time Sunday in Denver after an injury two weeks ago during a game against the Houston Oilers left his legs temporarily numb.

“I talked with the doctors and they told me there was no risk, and that’s why I’m back,” he said.

Broussard was injured Nov. 13 when his neck took a hit from Al Smith. Broussard lay on the turf with what doctors called “two dead legs.”

The week off after the injury, plus a visit with his family back home in Atlanta, gave Broussard time to take stock. He decided he would continue to play football, but that he needed to make some changes in his life.

“That (the injury) was just an eye opener, the Lord telling me something,” he said.
