COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Luppani Sets Record in Orange Coast Victory
Flo Luppani set an Orange Coast College single-game record for assists with 15 as the Pirates beat Foothill, 87-78, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday at OCC.
Amierca Robledo and Stephanie McNamara each scored 22 points for OCC (5-1). McNamara made 10 of 17 shots and Robledo made nine of 16.
Jamie Shine added 15 points, making seven of 13 shots. The Pirates shot 52% (37 of 71) from the field. Luppani finished with four points.
Foothill (4-2) plays today at 5 p.m. at Golden West.
In another nonconference women’s game:
College of Sequoias 66, Golden West 64--Shancya Harris was the difference in Sequoias’ victory, scoring a game-high 23 points and snapping Golden West’s 69-game home-court winning streak.
Julie Murdent had 18 points for Golden West (4-2). Deana Itow added 14 points, and Farrah Magee had 20 rebounds. Sequoias is 6-0.
In the Utah Valley State men’s tournament:
Utah Valley State 103, Irvine Valley 74--Jeremy Garrett scored 19 points in Irvine Valley’s loss. Teammate Antoine James added 14 points and nine rebounds, and Rashad Wilson scored 13 points.
Irvine Valley (3-2) is playing without freshman Keon Clark, the 6-foot-11 center who has a severely sprained ankle and is expected to return in four weeks. Utah Valley is 9-1.
