LA HABRA : Card Designers Win Museum Memberships

Share

Two elementary school students will be presented this week with one-year family memberships to the Children’s Museum at La Habra and a box of Christmas cards they designed in a museum contest.

The designs of Danielle Morgan, a first-grader at Ladera Palma Elementary School, and Kristen Farrara, a student at Walnut School, were selected last month out of 300 entries. The contest, held in June, asked students to draw a Christmas scene, said Missy Fleet, president of Friends of the Children’s Museum at La Habra.

Morgan’s card features a Christmas tree with a yellow star ornament on top of it and a reindeer resembling “a stuffed bear with antlers” standing next to the tree, Fleet said.

Farrara’s card features a snowman, complete with top hat and pipe. There are also snowflakes and a flower in the background, Fleet said.

Morgan and Farrara will get their prize, valued at $40, this Monday and Tuesday, respectively, at their schools.

A box of 12 cards is on sale at the museum’s gift shop for $10. Funds raised from the card sales benefit the museum’s programming fund. So far, the museum has sold more than 3,000 cards, Fleet said.

The Children’s Museum at La Habra is at 301 S. Euclid St.
