THOUSAND OAKS : 2 Nominated for State Teaching Award
Two Thousand Oaks teachers have been selected as the Conejo Valley Unified School District’s nominees for the 1995 California Teacher of the Year award.
Carol Alexander, an instrumental music teacher at Redwood Intermediate School, and Judy Bowers, a first-grade teacher at Meadows Elementary School, were chosen from a field of several hundred instructors, school officials said.
Alexander and Bowers, who have taught a total of 55 years, were recognized by the school board this week for their dedication and commitment to education.
“My greatest thrill is working with those little people every day,” Bowers said during a brief ceremony Monday night. “It is a wonderful feeling to do something for 29 years and still be thinking of new ways to do it.”
