Woman Dies After Being Hit by Truck
An elderly woman died Wednesday evening after being struck by a 14-wheel semi-truck that fled the scene without stopping.
The woman, whose identity had not been confirmed Wednesday night, was crossing Orangethorpe Avenue at Valley View Street about 5 p.m. when she was hit by a white Albertson’s delivery truck, said police Detective Wally Davis.
The truck was traveling west on Orangethorpe and continued onto the westbound Artesia Freeway after the woman was struck. She was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where she later died, police said.
Investigators are looking for the truck and the driver, who is described as a Latino about 25 to 30 years old. He was wearing a blue shirt, witnesses told police.
Anyone with information is asked to call the La Palma Police Department at (714) 523-4552.
