Share

The UCLA, USC and Long Beach State women’s volleyball teams begin play this weekend in the NCAA tournament, each grouped in a different regional.

Each had a first-round bye and will play host for a second-round match. UCLA (28-3) will play host to Georgia Tech (26-8) in Pauley Pavilion and USC (20-7) will play host to New Mexico (20-9) in the Lyon Center. Both matches begin at 7 tonight. Long Beach (25-5) will play host to Montana (25-5) Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Pyramid.

But after this weekend, if they survive, the three schools will go their separate ways.

Third-ranked UCLA was top-seeded in the South Region, where No. 14 Florida has been selected as the projected host for the regional tournament next weekend. If all goes according to form, No. 10 USC will travel to second-ranked Stanford for the West Regional, and seventh-ranked Long Beach will play host to the Northwest Regional.
