An Oxnard Police Department gang sweep resulted in more than 30 arrests, including for four felonies and the recovery of a stolen firearm, officials said Sunday.
The department’s gang-enforcement team contacted more than 115 suspected gang members over three nights ending Saturday, Sgt. Charles Hookstra said.
The officers made four felony arrests, two misdemeanor arrests and 25 arrests for alleged violations of the city’s curfew law. Of the four felony arrests, three of those taken into custody were Oxnard juveniles arrested on suspicion of stealing a car, burglary and possession of a .357-Magnum revolver, Hookstra said.
The increased enforcement was planned in response to an escalating series of gang incidents over the past several weeks, including three drive-by shootings, he said.
