OJAI : Campfire Ban Lifted in National Forest
Restrictions on campfires in Los Padres National Forest have been lifted because of cooler weather and the beginning of the rainy season.
Wood-burning campfires will now be allowed outside of developed campgrounds for those carrying permits. Permits may be obtained at the Ojai Ranger Station, 1190 E. Ojai Ave.
The fire restrictions are imposed each summer to reduce the chance of wildfires, then lifted each fall when the weather increases the moisture level in vegetation.
The forest service also will allow residents living inside Los Padres National Forest to burn their yard debris.
