Unocal to Upgrade Thai Operations: The oil company said it plans to spend $1.4 billion over five years to improve infrastructures. Brian W. G. Marcotte, president of Unocal Thailand, said the subsidiary hopes to be producing 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily by early 1999. The company’s natural gas production in Thailand will average about 700 million cubic feet daily this year and next, he said. Unocal Thailand expects deliveries to rise to about 820 million cubic feet a day in 1996. With additional production from its Jakrawan field in late 1996, the unit will have the potential to deliver more than 900 million cubic feet a day in 1997 and ‘98, Marcotte said.
