Newly elected Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, a former city councilman, will don yet another hat Saturday, when he serves as grand marshal of Pacoima’s annual Christmas parade.

Yaroslavsky, who had represented Los Angeles’ 5th Council District, won his recent bid to succeed Supervisor Ed Edelman and now represents Pacoima and the rest of the 3rd Supervisorial District. The 3rd district covers most of the San Fernando Valley.

Also scheduled to participate in the parade are Diane Diaz of KNBC News and Kim Fields, a star of the television show “Living Single.”

The parade will feature floats, drill teams, dancers and marching bands from area high schools, and kicks off at 10 a.m. at TransWorld Bank, 13657 Van Nuys Blvd. The parade will proceed down Van Nuys Boulevard to Glenoaks Boulevard and end with a party at the Boys & Girls Club of the San Fernando Valley, 11251 Glenoaks Blvd.

One of the floats in the parade will be built by volunteers from Phoenix Academy in Lake View Terrace, a residential drug treatment center for teen-agers, and youth from the Pacoima Community Youth Cultural Center. The float features the theme: “Pacoima United.”
