2 Injured in Santa Paula Shooting
A reported “gunfight” in Santa Paula on Saturday afternoon sent two men to the hospital for gunshot wounds, police said.
About eight shots were fired in the exchange that occurred about 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Acacia Road in Santa Paula, a Santa Paula police spokesman said.
Alfonso Cerda, 24, of Santa Paula was shot once in the left arm and once in the thigh. He was transported to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital where he was listed in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Brian Herron, 27, also of Santa Paula, was grazed across the chest by a bullet and sought medical treatment on his own at Ventura County Medical Center and was then released. Officers later arrested Herron on a parole violation.
As of late Saturday, police had no further information on the incident and had made no more arrests.
