MISSION VIEJO — Three people struck by flying debris when a pressurized oxygen chamber exploded at a medical clinic remained hospitalized Saturday, one of them in critical condition.
Jayantilal Patel, 50, of Rancho Santa Margarita was listed in critical condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center, a spokeswoman said. Patel suffered a depressed skull fracture when he was hit by debris in the explosion Friday at the Health Restoration Center, in the 22000 block of Aspan Street.
Gladys Casey, 65, of Chino Hills was in serious but stable condition at the hospital Saturday, and Moti Govindgie, 63, of San Jose, was in stable condition, the spokeswoman said.
Two other people, who were sitting in the hyperbaric chamber when the explosion occurred, were treated and released from the hospital. All three of those hospitalized were in a nearby waiting area at the time of the explosion and were struck by debris, including chunks of the heavy plastic chamber door.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the explosion.
