A new preliminary hearing date was set on Wednesday for Cal State Northridge football player Jonathan Beauregard, who is charged with two counts of attempted murder.

In early November, Beauregard’s preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday. But on Wednesday in San Bernardino Municipal Court, his attorney, Grover L. Porter, requested that it be postponed until Jan. 13.

“Mr. Porter is engaged in a trial and is unavailable because of the trial demands,” said Wade Abbott, San Bernardino deputy district attorney.

Porter did not return phone calls from The Times.

Beauregard, 22, was arrested in August and accused of shooting his former girlfriend and her male companion outside a San Bernardino bar. He is free on $100,000 bail.
