Indonesia Revokes Forest Concessions: In an action seen as a move toward curbing excessive logging and bad management of its tropical forests, the country has revoked 75 forest concessions of an unknown number of firms, the Antara news agency said. Warsito, secretary of the directorate-general of Forest Exploitation, said Forestry Minister Djamaluddin Soeryohadikusumo made the decision after 135 concessions expired. Most of those had run for 20 years. Warsito was quoted as saying state companies would take equity in another 33 concessions. Antara said a total of 580 forest concessions had been issued since 1970.
