SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO : Police Program Will Reward Youngsters
City officials are looking for merchants to help offer “rewards” as part of a new program in which deputies single out children who are “caught being good.”
Police Services has developed the program to laud youths who do such things as wear bicycle helmets, walk their bicycles in a crosswalk or are just polite.
The program aims to reward children for being respectful and law-abiding. It is also a way for local police to show they are not just out to ticket wrongdoers.
Children who are noticed doing something good will be given a commendation letter from the police chief.
Merchants interested in helping provide rewards are asked to call Yomar Cleary at San Juan Capistrano Police Services, (714) 443-6369.
