Edison Awards Oxnard Firm a Certificate of Merit
An Oxnard firm, Conrad & Okuma Architects, has been awarded a “Design for Excellence” certificate of merit by Southern California Edison. It was the second time in three years that the firm has been honored by Edison.
The certificate was awarded to Jeffrey S. Conrad and Albert A. Okuma for their renovation of Oxnard’s main post office on C Street.
This year’s competition drew more than 200 entries from industrial, commercial and educational projects.
Because of its energy-saving improvements, the post office project received a $24,000 rebate from Edison.
The renovation was praised for using glazed skylights to enhance natural lighting; high-efficiency, low-glare light fixtures; occupancy motion sensors; day lighting controls and high-efficiency heating, ventilating and air-conditioning units.
